Abhinand Anilkumar, B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) student (2024–28 batch) at St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Chengannur, has co-developed an innovative AI tabletop learning robot named "Kalam Spark."
Modeled after former President and renowned scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the animatronic tabletop robot is designed to assist students directly at their study tables. It interacts conversationally, answers subject-specific queries, and helps students learn subjects in depth.
Key Highlights of the Innovation:
- Developer Team: The robot was created by a research team from the Robotics Research Location at Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, Kanyakumari. The team includes faculties J.S. Krishnanunni and U.R. Abhilraj, EdTech student Muhammed Habib, alongside B.Tech CSE student Abhinand Anilkumar.
- Advanced Features: 'Kalam Spark' integrates real-time AI conversation, voice recognition, and expressive facial animatronics. Beyond explaining academic topics, it can quiz students to reinforce learning.
- Proprietary OS: The robot operates on "Accubots OS," an in-house operating system developed by Accutro Technologies.
- Commercial Launch: The product is being brought to the market by Accutro Technologies, based out of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, and is set to be commercially available shortly.
